The Importance of Gratitude

Having gratitude changes everything.



Gratitude is so important to your healing journey. We have to remember that both good and bad events happen in our lives each day. What is important is where we focus our time and energy. As you increase your gratitude and focus on the good, you will notice it more often than the bad.


How do we focus on the good?

  1. Make a list of three things you are grateful for each day. When you intentionally focus on the good, you begin to rewire your brain. Soon you will do so without thinking about it.

  2. When a challenging event happens, try to see the good in it. Maybe you were held up at a red light, which made you late to work, but the delay helped you avoid a car accident.

  3. Make it a family event. Go around the table each night and have everyone say what their favorite part of the day was.

  4. Make a list of the people who positively influenced your life. Reach out to some of those people and thank them for being there for you.

Since I believe in gratitude so much, I am creating a new category on my blog that will focus on my gratitude. I will offer stories of how grateful I am to those people who have supported me and been a positive influence in my life. I hope you will join me on this journey and begin to show your own gratitude in your life. This is our story, and we get to tell it the way we choose.
